Asbestos Survey Yorkshire
If you believe that you have asbestos anywhere on your property or you are concerned that it may be a possibility, it is important to have an asbestos survey carried out as soon as possible. For commercial and industrial property owners it is required by the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, that an asbestos management plan must be in place.
Having an asbestos survey carried out is the first step in producing a plan that complies with the regulations. Individual homeowners are not legally required to have any kind of asbestos management plan; however, many people prefer the peace of mind consider the risk asbestos poses to human health.
How we conduct surveys
If you choose Crucial Environmental to carry out a survey of your property, we guarantee a high level of service. Our team of experience asbestos specialists have been operating in and around Yorkshire for some time and we have built up an excellent local reputation.
Our surveys begin with a thorough search for potential asbestos and asbestos containing materials (ACMs). We carefully take samples from any possible ACMs and get them sent away to a UKAS accredited laboratory where they can be analysed to understand their composition and condition. Typically, we expect these results back within 36 hours.
What to expect for our reports
Once the survey has been conducted and the details of the samples have returned from the laboratory, we will draw up a comprehensive and detailed report. While this report will be in-depth, it will be as free as possible for jargon and technical language, ensuring you can completely understand the nature of any asbestos on your property.
The reports are printed in full colour, bound and presented to you as a hard copy – we will also email a PDF to you directly.
Asbestos Lab Testing Yorkshire
As a part of the service we provide, we can offer first-class lab testing of potential asbestos containing materials. It is not always possible with the naked eye whether asbestos is present or not. To do so, we can safely take a sample of the material so that it can be sent away to a UKAS accredited lab for testing.
We would typically expect to get the results of the test back within 36 hours of the sample being taken. However, in urgent cases it may be possible to get the results expedited. They will be provided with a full certificate of analysis, so that we can understand whether asbestos is present or not, and the current condition of that material.
If we find that asbestos is present, we will include in our report further advice and information on action that you can take, and potential remedial works.
Asbestos Management Survey
We have provided asbestos management surveys to businesses and industrial premises across Yorkshire. Our surveys are specifically designed to help companies and building owners stay in compliance with the requirements of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
During the survey we will attempt to locate any asbestos in your property and assess its condition. It may be the case that the asbestos is not obvious, in which case samples can be taken of the material, and these can then be sent away to a United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) laboratory for testing and analysis.
Our asbestos management surveys can be used to create an asbestos management plan. It may be the case that you will require re-testing or on-going management – this is also something that we can arrange.
Is there asbestos in Yorkshire?
Unfortunately, asbestos still presents a serious risk for many properties across Yorkshire. While asbestos was banned from future use in 1999, any buildings that were built before the regulations were put in place could contain asbestos. It is sadly the case that as Yorkshire thrives and grows, we are likely to see a growing problem with asbestos.
This is due to the fact that asbestos is only usually dangerous when fibres are released and become airborne. This typically occurs during renovation works. Therefore, before you consider any kind of refit or DIY you should have an asbestos survey carried out.
